Sci-Fi Radio

(5 Sterne; 2 Bewertungen)

Sci-Fi Radio was an anthology of magazine short story adaptations, with a pretty good choice of the stories. These were recorded off the radio and vary in quality.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

really like "shape" has neat sound effects of blobby gooping its so funny there is a guy called pilot and his second in command really wants to be a dog and his name is gir hmm i wonder if he wants to be a mongoose dog the story call me joe seems like the base idea of james camerons avatar cripple guy downloads his mind into a creature able to live on jupiter ends up abandoning his old body cold equasions always bugged me it has versions on the new outer limits and x minus one it seems that if the fuel equasions are this tight the ship is doomed with her aboard and ejecting her would make no difference sales pitch reminds me of the old with folded hands episode houston can you read me is a bit of a bummer i guess the girls kill all the men who knows maybe they killed every man on earth

Don't be put off by first couple plays

(5 Sterne)

I've listened to a few of these now & I think some of the lukewarm reviews here are because first couple plays are unconventional & not easy to get into, especially the first one, "Voices Lost in Calling". It's not only quirky & "experimental", it's also not very good. Unfortunate that it's the first track in the collection. Must turn a lot of people away without ever hearing any of the rest, which is a shame because overall this is a great collection with a few absolute gems. Track 3, "Dark Benediction", is particularly excellent & goes a step beyond the current zombie movie craze, even though the story it's based was written years before the Zombie Apocalypse was even a glimmer on the mass consciousness radar.

"Light from other days," can happen

(4 Sterne)

It took me ~3 minutes to catch the idea that this glass let you see a scene in some spectacular way. Full realization crystalized only after the cabin door was opened. I rate this ~4.25. The neat thing is this ~could happen. Dr. Lene V. Hau of Harvard performs an experiment where she slows light to 15 MPH. More impressive, she has frozen a photon in a BEC (Bose-Einstien condensate), then she transferred it to another BEC before 'releasing' it. Marvelous!

okay

I only tuned in a little. The first episode was pure 100% repetitious abstract. Im not saying it was bad, but... ! Another episode called The Rose exploited the music box melody of 'Beautiful Dreamer' so much, it became nauseating. I might listen more another time. This show isn't pulling me in.

a great scifi series, with quality science fiction stories

(5 Sterne)

This seems to be from public broadcasting, and it's similar the Mindwebs (another good one in the Archive). Mindwebs is a dramatic reading of real science fiction stories, these are plays based upon real scifi classics.

Good series

I've only listened to a few. I downloaded all. Several I couldn't get into, some were good. Good production, good sound quality. Houston, Houston, was very interesting... I'd recommend. If you don't like an episode, try another.

Inconsistent

as another reviewer said, the sound quality is great. i do think that there are *some* good stories here... i personally enjoyed "i'm scared" and "houston, houston, do you read".

sound quality good,; stories not

I was simply bored by several of these - so much so, that although I had downloaded them all, I deleted the rest unlistened.
