Allaah (the Creator) describes the Qur'aan in the Qur'aan itself: The best answer to the question “What is Qur'aan” is provided by Allaah – the Lord and Rabb of everything that is ever created and exists. The following are some of the descriptions about the Qur'aan within the Qur'aan itself asserting its authority as a divine book revealed for the entire humanity at large. Here are the Qur'anic verses about the Qur'aan: *~The Qur'aan is undoubtedly the word of Allaah (God)~* The Qur'aan is a book that is the Word of Allaah (God) and there is no doubt about its divinity. The claim is made by no one but Allaah Himself. {This is the Book (the Qur'aan), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqoon (the pious and righteous persons who fear Allaah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allaah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)).} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 2] Allaah makes it clear in the Qur'aan that it could not have been revealed by anyone other than Him. He says: {And this Qur’aan is not such as could ever be produced by other than Allaah (Lord of the heavens and the earth), but it is a confirmation of (the revelation) which was before it [i.e. the Taurat (Torah), and the Injeel (Gospel)], and a full explanation of the book (i.e. laws, decreed for mankind) – wherein there is no doubt – from the Lord of the ‘Aalameen (mankind, jinn, and all that exists).} [Qur'aan; Surah Younus, Verse 37] *~The Qur'aan is the Book of Truth~* Since time immemorial people have been arguing about “truth” and the criteria to determine the “truth”. Allaah makes it clear in the Qur'aan about “ultimate truth.” No book on entity has made such a universal claim with such an authority. The Qur'aan is the Book of Allaah with a Message of truth for all of mankind: {Verily, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad (ﷺ)) the Book (this Qur'aan) for mankind in truth. So whosoever accepts the guidance, it is only for his own self, and whosoever goes astray, he goes astray only for his (own) loss. And you (O Muhammad (ﷺ)) are not a Wakeel (trustee or disposer of affairs, or keeper) over them.} [Qur'aan; Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 41] Allaah also says: {These are the Verses of the Book (the Qur'aan), and that which has been revealed unto you (Muhammad (ﷺ)) from your Lord is the truth, but most men believe not.} [Qur'aan; Surah Ar-Raad, Verse 1] *~The Qur'aan is a book that discusses mankind (and their guidance)~* Allaah tells us that He revealed a book that includes teachings and guidance related to mankind, so we should follow it. He says: {Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a book (the Qur'aan) in which there is Dhikrukum,(your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Qur'aan and acts on its teachings). Will you not then understand?} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 10] Allah also says: {And indeed We have fully explained to mankind, in this Qur'aan, every kind of similitude, but most mankind refuse (the truth and accept nothing) but disbelief.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Isra, Verse 89] *~The Qur'aan brings ones life out of darkness into light~* {It is He Who sends down manifest Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) to His slave (Muhammad ﷺ) that He may bring you out from darkness into light.} [Qur'aan; Surah al-Hadeed, Verse 9] *~Belief in the Qur'aan is part of being righteous and pious~* Allaah tells us in the Qur'aan the various criteria of being righteous and pious, one of which is the faith in this Book (Al-Qur'aan). {It is no virtue that you turn your faces towards the east or the west, but virtue is that one should sincerely believe in Allaah and the Last Day and the Angels and the Book and the Prophets and, out of His love, spend of one’s choice wealth for relatives and orphans, for the needy and the wayfarer, for beggars and for the ransom of slaves, and establish the Salaah (Prayer) and pay the Zakaah (Charity). And the virtuous are those who keep their pledges when they make them and show fortitude in hardships and adversity and in the struggle between the Truth and falsehood; such are the truthful people and such are the pious.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 177] *~The Qur'aan was revealed to be recited for its followers~* As the Qur'anic verse below indicates, Allaah has asked the Qur'aan’s followers to give it’s right of recitation (to be followed). He says in the Qur'aan: {Those (who embraced Islaam from Bani Israel) to whom We gave the book [the Taurat (Torah)] [or those (Muhammad's ﷺ companions) to whom We have given the book (the Qur'aan)] recite it (i.e. obey its orders and follow its teachings) as it should be recited (i.e. followed), they are the ones who believe therein. And whoso disbelieve in it (the Qur'aan), those are they who are the losers. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi).} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 121] *~The Qur'aan is Allaah’s Word that was brought by Angel Jibra'eel (Gabriel) to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)~* Allaah provides the answer about how Qur'aan was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ). {And verily, you (O Muhammad (ﷺ)) are receiving the Qur'aan from the One, All-Wise, All-Knowing.} [Qur'aan; Surah An-Naml, Verse 6] *~The Qur'aan is Allaah’s Word that was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in stages~* When the Qur'aan was being revealed to the prophet (ﷺ), the disbelievers of his time asked as to why the entire Book was not revealed all at once. To this Allaah responded in the Qur'aan: {And those who disbelieve say: Why is not the Qur'aan revealed to him all at once? Thus (it is sent down in parts), that We may strengthen your heart thereby. And We have revealed it to you gradually, in stages.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Furqan Verse 32] *~Nothing like the Qur'aan can be written or produced~* In the Qur'aan, Allaah has challenged mankind and the jinn to produce something like it, even one Surah (chapter) or one Ayah (verse), but they could not do that and will never be able to do that, as Allaah says: {Say: “If the mankind and the jinns were together to produce the like of this Qur'aan, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they helped one another.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Isra, Verse 88] Allaah also says in the Qur'aan: {And if you (Arab Pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that, which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'aan) to Our slave (Muhammad (ﷺ)), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allaah, if you are truthful.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 23] *~The Qur'aan is a divine revelation that should be treated as such~* Allaah emphasizes the greatness of the Qur'aan by providing an example in the following verse: {Had We sent down this Qur'aan on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allaah. Such are the parables, which We put forward to mankind that they may reflect.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 21] *~The Qur'aan is Allaah’s (God’s) final revelation to mankind that has remain unchanged since its revelation~* The Qur'aan is not only Allaah’s final Word but Allaah Himself has taken the pledge to safeguard it from any corruption. As a result, we see that Qur'aan today is in the same form as it was revealed by Allaah on Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). All other revealed books except the Qur'aan have been changed and distorted over time. The Qur'aan is and will remain, intact in its original form till the Day of Judgement. Allaah has sent down Qur'aan to mankind and has guaranteed to preserve it, taking upon Himself the responsibility of preserving it till the last day. Allaah says: {It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'aan) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption).} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Hijr, Verse 9] *~The Qur'aan provides a complete code of living life and guidance for preparing for the Hereafter~* The Qur'aan is a blessing for mankind to be able to live peaceful lives on this earth and has guidance to help mankind prepare for the Hereafter as well. Allaah says: {… And We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur'aan), as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allaah as Muslims).} [Qur'aan; Surah An-Nahl, Verse 89] *~The Qur'aan is a Book of healing~* The Qur'aan is a means of both physical and spiritual healing. Allaah says in the Qur'aan: {O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (i.e. the Qur'aan, ordering all that is good and forbidding all that is evil), and a healing for that (disease of ignorance, doubt, hypocrisy and differences, etc.) in your breasts, – a guidance and a mercy (explaining lawful and unlawful things, etc.) for the believers.} [Qur'aan; Surah Younus, Verse 57] Allah also says: {And We sent down in the Quran such things that have healing and mercy for the believers.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Isra, Verse 82] *~The Qur'aan’s Message has no crookedness or contradictions~* Allaah says in the Qur'aan: {Do they not then consider the Qur’aan carefully? Had it been from other than Allaah, they would surely have found therein many a contradiction.} [Qur'aan; Surah An-Nisa, Verse 82] He also says: {All the praises and thanks be to Allaah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad ﷺ) the Book (the Qur'aan), and has not placed therein any crookedness.} [Qur'aan; Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 1] – End ~~~List of Surah's~~~ May Allaah ('Azza wa Jal) Accept their efforts, Guide countless of people to the Religion of Truth - Al-Islaam through them, and Forgive them. May Allaah (Jalla Jalaalahu) Multiply all their sincere deeds by resonating the benefit of their works to later generations and Cause their legacy to continuously act as a guide to non-Muslims as well as a tool for Muslims to gain Eemaan, Taqwa, beneficial knowledge & Guidance until Yawmul-Qiyaamah and Cause it all to be a means of Sadaqah-Jaariyah & Pleasure for them in the Barzakh, and ultimately Grant them & their family Jannatul-Firdaws! Ameen! : ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- {Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "Truth has (now) arrived, and Falsehood perished: for Falsehood is (by its nature) bound to perish."} (al-Qur'aan; 17.81) {Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "I am only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your ilah (God) is One ilah (God - i.e. Allaah). So whoever hopes for the Meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord."} (al-Qur'aan; 18.110) {Say (O Muhammad ﷺ): "If any men go astray, (Allaah) Most Gracious extends (the rope) to them, until, when they see the warning of Allaah (being fulfilled) - either in punishment or in (the approach of) the Hour,- they will at length realise who is worst in position, and (who is) weakest in forces!} (al-Qur'aan; 19.75) The last & final Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said; "If anyone testifies that None has the right to be worshipped but Allaah alone (One God) Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Slave and His Apostle, and that Jesus is Allaah's Slave and His Apostle and His Word which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Jannah (Paradise) is true, and that Jahannam (Hell) is true, Allaah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which he had done even if those deeds were few." (Saheeh al-Bukhari) {Say, (O Muhammad ﷺ): "This is my way, I call to Allaah (i.e. to the testification that none has the right to be worshipped except God, alone, with no partner) upon certain knowledge - I, and those who follow me.
